MAUI DJ | DJ LX BIO

Maui DJ | DJ LXHis love for music significantly grew in the year 2002. Always captivated by the art that DJ’s executed on the 2 turntables and listening to mix show DJ’s on i94 93.9 FM inspired LX to learn this remarkable art and become a DJ. Becoming a DJ never came easy for him for he was clueless as to what equipment to procure and never really had anyone to teach him the fundamentals on how to DJ. His only “teacher” was the radio mix shows.

He began spinning at birthday, graduations, and house parties, but it wasn’t until 2003 that his career took a very positive stance. He started interning at Power 104.3 in Honolulu, deejayed for free at various station remotes/promotions and while doing so, he caught the attention of Mix Show Coordinator Kevin Akitake “DJ Krazy K.” LX finally got the golden opportunity to prove himself on air on the Power Mix Show. Since then, LX has been consistently on air every Friday night, working alongside his inspirations, James Coles, Krazy K, Mike D, DJ Elite, and DJ Big John. “This is a goal I have always wanted to achieve since I began DJing. My dream has undeniably come true! Shout out to the entire Power 104.3 family!”

In August of 2005 LX moved to Maui and soon after he also became a mixer for Da Jam 98.3 (KJMD, Maui Hawaii) and now one of the top mixers in the market. You can catch LX rockin’ the airwaves every Monday & Tuesday afternoon on the Power Mix @ 6! With his wide assortment taste of music, LX mixes everything from Hip-Hop, R&B, Dance, House, Electro, Rock, Funk, Old school, 80′s, 90′s, Reggae, Latin / Reggaeton and Dance-Hall.

What makes him so consistent is that LX always plays for the crowd! “Yes as a DJ, sometimes we want to hear the songs we want to hear, hate playing the same songs night after night, but it’s the dance floor and people having fun is what matters.” Another aspect of his prominence is that the music creativity he generates on the fly is inspired purely by the crowd’s energy; but keeping the integrity of the music – knowing when to scratch, when not to scratch – knowing how to go from Hip-Hop to Rock, to Old School to House/Dance, to Electro to Reggae ect..

The combination of his versatile style and unique skills makes him not only a vastly recognized name but also a sought-after name in the business. His expertise has already enabled him to perform all over the Hawaiian Islands in various bars/nightclubs. It’s now 2011 and people are starting to take notice of this DJ who rocks the crowds ubiquitously.

LX is extremely proud of all his accomplishments as a DJ. “DJ’ing is not just a hobby or a fad that I have on the side,” LX explains, “it is a colossal part of my life, it is truly my passion, and I hope when people see me they see a DJ who DJs for the love of the art and the people, not for the rock star status.” Right now his next steps is getting more into remixing / producing and make a move up to the mainland to try and take his career to the next level of greatness.
